  • Xbox Live welcomes Vimeo and AOL On, boosts Verizon FiOS offering for Gold subscribers

DNP Vimeo launches on XBOX Live, brings another video service to the dashboard

A host of new Xbox Live apps came online for Gold subscribers today, including Vimeo and AOL On. Vimeo users will have the ability to share videos through Xbox Live and Facebook, but the new app may also be preparation for the official launch of the streaming site’s pay-to-view service, available to all Vimeo Pro members in early 2013. AOL On also brings its library of over 380,000 videos, including content from HuffPost Entertainment, Reuters, CNET, Moviefone, Entertainment Tonight and yours truly. Lastly, Verizon FiOS users will now see 75 channels on Xbox Live, including 49 new additions such as AMC HD and NFL Network. All apps can be controlled via Kinect voice and gestures, though you may need more than zombie-like reflexes to flip to the Walking Dead.

VModa ships its listenerinfluenced M100 headphones

V-Moda’s Crossfade M-100 headphones represent a rare experiment that suggests some of the listeners themselves are the best designers. We’re about to learn whether practice matches theory now that the over-ears are shipping. Those who spend $310, slightly more than the originally promised $300, should get a black or white body, an in-line microphone remote and a set of removable shields to tailor the look. V-Moda justifies the price mostly through a more refined sound than the M-80 as well as as a folding, dual-input design that’s built for traveling and sharing. A pair of M-100s is expensive relative to some off-the-shelf headphones, but potential customers may already know whether or not they’re buying — many of them had a hand in the venture, after all.

  • The Engadget Show 39: Holiday Spectacular with Jonathan Coulton, John Roderick and Ben Heck

It’s the most wonderful time of year. There’s stockings hung above the fireplace, overflowing hot cocoa on the table, a MakerBot Replicator 2 printing ornaments beneath the tree and a sampling of the year’s most exciting gadgets strewn about. Yes, friends, it’s time for the Engadget Holiday Spectacular!

We’re kicking off this very special holiday episode with a visit to Ben Heck’s private workshop in Madison, Wisconsin to watch the construction of his holiday creation, the Naughty or Nice Meter. Also on the docket is a trip to NORAD’s headquarters on a base in Colorado Springs, to find out how the military will be hard at work tracking Santa Claus later this month. Of course, not even Saint Nick can deliver all of the presents this year, so we’ve paid a visit to UPS’s massive 5.2 million square foot Worldport shipping facility in Louisville, Kentucky to get a behind the scenes look at its late night operations.

Speaking of gifts, we’ve got two huge presents in the form of songsters Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick, who will be playing a trio brand new holiday classics off their new record, One Christmas at a Time. We’ve also got a visit from Engadget founder Peter Rojas, who will be helping us make a twice-checked list of some of the year’s top gadgets. And as if that weren’t enough, we’ve got an appearence by a very familiar looking Santa Claus and a special holiday animation. So light a fire, get cozy and prepare for a very special — and very spectacular — episode of The Engadget Show.
